NATMI Virtual Training FAQs

From the second half of May 2020 onward, NATMI is offering a Virtual Training Guarantee that we will hold our programs virtually if they cannot be taught in person.  This page contains our latest policies regarding virtual training, which are in the form of Frequently Asked Questions.

Question:
What hosting platform will you be using?
Answer: Zoom

Question: How do I know which courses are virtual?
Answer: The course listing on the website will say “VIRTUAL PROGRAM” in the listing and the description.  All courses scheduled in May are virtual.

Question: Why are virtual courses listed with a physical location (ex., Los Angeles)?
Answer: Our courses are hosted by state and provincial trucking associations.  The virtual courses are still being credited to the state that originally scheduled the program as an in-person event.  Anyone may register for the event, regardless of whether they are a member of the state/provincial association.

Question: What if a course scheduled in June is permitted to be held in-person, but I still want to attend virtually?
Answer: Any in-person course held in June will be a “hybrid” program where students may participate via computer or in-person.  Courses that cannot be held in-person in June will be fully virtual.

Question: What is the plan for courses scheduled after June?
Answer: If in-person training is permitted, courses will be held in-person.  Registrants will still have the option to participate virtually after June. We will accommodate virtual attendance requests, either within the in-person course or schedule a separate virtual program.

Question: Can a course be cancelled or postponed?
Answer: Potentially, if minimum attendance requirements are not met, but NATMI will strive to avoid any cancelations or postponements by combining virtual/hybrid programs or transferring individuals to programs that have met minimum attendance requirements.   The advantage of virtual programs is that they can be combined without inconveniencing registrants since location is no longer a concern.
